Dixie

Dixie was born in North Jacksonville.  Her mama was a Paint horse.  When she arrived she desperately missed her mother and quickly attached to Midnight as her security.  She still feels anxiety when Midnight isn’t nearby and is working through that.  Dixie loves a good rubdown and is always right in Midnight’s shadow to greet our guests.  She is a true treasure.

Midnight

Midnight was rescued in Canada as a “PMU colt.”  He has grown into a beautiful gentle giant.  His parents were Percheron and Thoroughbred.  People are often drawn to Midnight because of his size and personality, which includes a very curious nature.  He is usually the first at the fence wanting to meet our guests, the first in for the evening feeding, and the first to make you smile.

Star

Star is just that…a ranch Star.  You can’t help but to love him.  Star is an American Quarter horse. Prior to coming to Chosen Reins, Star had some very unpleasant experiences.  He was sent to a trainer who was unable to accomplish the goals they had set for him. Some traumatic things happened during that training period.  The owners were very concerned for Star and wanted what was best for him.  They surrendered him and with time and love Star has learned to trust again.  He has helped bring healing to others through his gentle personality and tender spirit.

Slim

Slim (our only donkey) has been Star’s friend for years.  But Star had been rehomed. Later, Slim had lost another companion to colic and was struggling.  Because Star had been a long-time trusted buddy, it was decided that Slim would be best with Star.  They were reunited and the rest is history.  Best friends for life.  If we did an ancestry genealogy test for Slim, we are certain he would be related to Eeyore.  Slim loves to be petted and he will slowly lean in to make sure you don’t stop.  Everyone who visits the ranch leaves with an affinity for Slim.

All of our rescues have been rehomed from Cypress Swamp Ranch Jaxson’s Place.
